Golf Digest's "Places to Play" guide, The Wellman Club is certainly one of best kept secrets, a hidden gem in South Carolina. Originally designed by Ellis Maples and Ed Seay, the 7,018-yard Wellman Club golf course features Bermuda fairways and well-trapped fast greens, with water on 9 holes. It has true natural beauty and large, fast and well-bunkered greens with several challenging water holes.
The signature par 5 11th hole is worth the ride and is considered a mirror image of the famed 13th holes at The Dunes Club in Myrtle Beach. A combination of beautiful and challenging championship golf and true, friendly Southern hospitality.
The Wellman Golf Club has being redesigned by world renown golf architect Rees Jones, who has earned the moniker “The Open Doctor” for his work in preparation for numerous major championships. His renovation and restoration skills have been applied to seven U.S. Open venues, nine PGA Championship courses, five Ryder Cup and two Walker Cup sites as well as three Presidents Cup venues.
